Make These Sliders for Your Next Dinner Party
Sliders are always a home run choice for dinner parties. While traditionally a miniature burger these ham and Swiss will flip the script, leaving your friends begging for the recipe!
As with most of the dishes I share, this too can be prepared with regular or gluten free rolls! Whichever your choice, start out with gathering the total number of rolls you want to serve as sliders. Personally, for this I always go for Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls — the sweet bread just balances the umami and richness the sandwich brings!
You will also need, sliced ham and Swiss cheese, and for every twelve rolls — 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 0.5 cups of melted butter, 0.5 tablespoon onion powder, 0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and 2 tablespoon poppy seeds.
To prep:
- Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cull all rolls in half, if they are not pre-cut, before placing the bottoms in a greased casserole dish.
- Combine mayonnaise and Dijon mustard, adjusting for taste, before spreading the mixture over all the bottoms.
- Place ham onto each slider, overlapping onto the next slider, until all bottoms are completely covered and overlapped with ham. Repeat with the Swiss cheese.
- Combine the melted butter, onion salt, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds into a mixing bowl and whisk until combined.
- Replace the tops of each slider and drizzle the poppy seed butter over each of the buns, ensuring each have been glazed.
- Cover casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes before removing the foil and returning to the oven for another 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, cut sliders into individual buns, and serve hot.
A few ways to modify the flavors would be to replace the onion powder for onion salt, some additional flavor through minced garlic, or some heat with a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
